The aesthetic beauty, and ability to customize can be used by homeowners looking for a beautiful, low maintenance, healthy floor.

Beautiful. Polished concrete floors are second to none in durability and appearance. Polished concrete floors can be customized to meet your flooring desires. They can be burnished to a high shine, can be dyed or Acid stained an assortment of colors, and can include many decorative options.

Healthy Floors:  Polished concrete floors do not trap mold, mildew, dust mites, bacteria, allergens, or moisture like other floors. Because the floors are polished, thepores of the concrete’s surface are tight and restricts moisture from entering. Polished concrete is a great alternative for anyone who suffers from allergies, asthma, or other respiratory issues.

Longest-Lasting Floor Solution Available.

There is no comparison to other floor systems when it comes to the life of a polished concrete floor. Even the most durable carpet, linoleum or VCT floors will require replacement at some time, whether it is ten or even twenty years later. Polished concrete floors will be there as long as the slab exists, whether that be forty or fifty years later.

Maintain Polished Concrete

Polished Concrete is one the easiest flooring systems to maintain and does not require aggressive cleaners or brushes to lift dirt away. Aside from the occasional damp and dust mopping, polished concrete floors will require very minimal maintenance.  With that said, the floors need to be sealed to help with any acidic issues that could potentially arise.  Acid will harm the floor if the issue is not immediately resolved.  However, we will show you how to perform your own maintenance to take of any etching or simply call us.

Disadvantages of Polished concrete in homes

  1. Concrete is hard and after a time will wear your legs down if you are standing or walking a lot around your house.
  2. Polished concrete needs to be dust mopped frequently, if the polished concrete is stained a dark color you will see a lot of the dust and dirt. Dust mopping also serves to keep the hard quartz from leaving micro scratches in the finish
  3. Polished concrete will etch. Anything acidic if dropped on the floor and left there for longer than 24 hours will etch the floor and remedial polishing in that area will need to occur.
  4. In the winter time, the concrete floor can be cold to the feet.
  5. If you considering using concrete polishing in your home, the concrete may not be hard enough to polish.
  6. If you are considering building a home with polished concrete, there needs to be some planning going into the project before your concrete is poured.

About Us

Deb and I started polishing natural stone over ten years ago with our other business Surface With A Smile. While serving our residential clients we soon noticed people interested in using their existing concrete slabs for staining, coatings or polishing.
